This review is from: Love Means Nothin' (Kindle Edition)Both she, and John Spencer, tennis champ, are running away from the present and past. He is no longer keen to be a tennis star, and she is trying to escape child abuse as best she can. From the first sentence, I loved them both. Her best friend's getting married and she's arrived in Manhattan for it. Then, well, as a fight breaks out in a restaurant and one man lands on their table, as this stranger, John, escorts her expertly out of the way....we are assured of an adroit writer who handles plot, dialog, place and time perfectly. And we are assured he is THE one. There is love burgeoning and blood is spilled. Ms. Anderson has taken us to Technicolor New York. The greatest place in the universe. And it is endearing, and I found myself feeling so happy. Like sitting in a park on a sunny summer afternoon, reading a smile of a book that is spun in complex startlements and revelations of personhoods and a clearness of past, so things can be seen honestly and away from hurt. No clockwork plot or characters who seem hemmed in by plot points and, as she writes, the need to get one, say, on a subway, at just the right moment, they also have breath and life. Wealth, papparazzi, cheesecake for a greeting card store, Dickensian relationship mix ups, and a swirling world of wonder right there in your hands. As mixed up as I make it seem, she makes it clear as day. And they live all on their own as well. Get a copy and take a run into joy. Excellent job.

Love Means Nothin' edition by Markee Anderson Contemporary Romance eBooks Reviews
what is with the big star ratings? the characters behavior was so unrealistic i couldn't go on. it was ridiculous.
Great story! How love and friendship, and determination will lead people to each other! I fully enjoyed this romance. From the beautiful naive southern gal, wanting to deny her feelings and stand on her own, to the jet setting pro-sports hero that saves her from the world and her family! A true love story, versus a lust story!
I found this book to be so far fetched it wasn't funny! I prefer to read stories which are plausible. I also think that the heroine was as thick as two short planks!
What I liked
The hero/heroine were likable characters
Sweet story
What I didn't like
too many people did things that I just couldn't buy - bridesmaid, hero's mother, people in West Virginia
(trying not to spoil anything).
I'm still open to reading more from this author.
For the price (.99), it is totally worthwhile.
Just not as good as other stories.
What can I say about this book. It was a great love story between a down home southern girl and a tennis pro. It was a wonderfully told story about how they got together and what happenes to each of them along the way. Melody has so much happening to her in her life when she meets John, and she doesn't believe that she deserves it. If you want a love story that really feels real, then Love Means Nothin' is for you. If you want a book that you get lost in and don't or can't put down, then this is the book is the one you want. I give it 5 stars because it is a story that you can relate too. You can almost see it happening to you.
This was a real sweetie pie of a book! If I could give half stars it would be a 4.5 but it deserves to be rounded up in this case. I enjoyed every minute of the read and kinda fell in love with the whole romance. This is most definitely a feel good book at the end but there is a journey to get there. A previous reviewer mentioned that Melody was stupid, but I have to disagree. The author painted a picture of an extremely naive girl. She was brought up in a very small town under the thumb of a very abusive father. She was a girl that was given no guidance or love. The decisions she made through the book as frustating as they were to the reader made sense when viewed in context.
