After reading She Asked for It, I was desperate to get my hands on Daniel’s story.  He was an intriguing side character in that book, and I longed to find out more about his history and motivations throughout the book.  There was no way I could anticipate just how complex his life was or exactly where his story would lead.

Possessive is a standalone novel, though it has ties to other books Willow Winters has written and is the jumping off point for an upcoming novel the crossover with the She Asked for It is negligible, and that book is not necessary for the understanding of this novel.  I have a feeling I’m going to be glad to have read Possessive before reading Merciless.  Possessive is written in dual first-person perspective, narrated by Addison and Daniel.  There are also a couple of surprise narrators toward the end.  There are a number of flashbacks that help put Addison and Daniel’s relationship into perspective.

The way time passed in Possessive was deceptive.  Everything happened over the course of only a few weeks, yet there were years of hurt pain and secrets between Addison and Daniel.  And I felt each of those years of loss, loneliness, and love while I was reading.  It felt like a slow-burn romance while having the present timeline of a much quicker love story.  That push and pull of the past and present made their story feel even more desperate and unique that it already was.

The history, the loved ones, the guilt Addison and Daniel shared made this book.  Their backstory and their shared loss, had it been any different - any less momentous - it would have made this into something I may have hated.  Their interactions in the present weren’t always kind, often bordering on cruel, but with the knowledge of what they’d experienced, those moments felt very intimate and apropos to the development of their love.  They needed those moments to hate one another to heal the wounds they’d suffered with for so long.

I wish the end of this book, of Daniel and Addison’s story, in particular, had been more fleshed out.  I felt like their story was ended rather abruptly in favor of putting the pieces in motion for Daniel’s brother’s book.  I have no doubts about the state of their relationship, but it still seemed unfinished.

Willow Winters is a powerful writer.  She’s able to wring out emotions and make her readers live in her books.  With each book I read of hers I feel a deeper connection with who she is as a writer.  The way she always makes me feel slightly uncomfortable, a little off kilter when I’m reading her books is – gah – it’s enthralling.  I know every time I pick up a new Willow Winters novel I’m going to be in for a ride, and it won’t be easy or predictable.

Possessive edition by W Winters Willow Winters Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews

I am disappointed. Willow Winters I am deeply disgruntled and disappointed. How could you? You have got to explain to me the reason for teasing me with Daniel and Addison's story, and then end their story so abruptly when you just gave us a peep into their history and a promise of their future?

This is unacceptable and I can't stop thinking about what could be or who made the attempt on their life and why? Does their story continue is this a series spin off?
First of all I love Willow Winters' books as I have read many of them. Possessive is the first one I have had difficulty getting into and staying into it. Too many 5 years earlier and later sequences. Addison thought she loved Tyler but really loved Daniel at the same time. After Tyler's death Daniel secretly followed and watched Addison for 5 years?? There were many confused periods of the issues with feelings of lust and love. I may have to read it again,as I feel I missed something. I also have the first cover of this book that asked willow to remove.
Be prepared, because this is not an easy read. Not because it's a bad book but because you will live it. Willow Winters writes in a way that transports you into her story. You feel every nuance of emotion that each page holds. Daniel and Addison's story is full of love and lust. Tragedy and triumph. Full of wrongs done and wrongs forgiven. But can the past truly be put behind them when it is filled with so much pain.
I have been reading the four book MERCILESS SERIES by W. Winters (Willow Winters). While waiting for ENDLESS Book 4 and the final book of the series release, I saw POSSESSIVE was on sale, and was the story of two of the characters in the MERCILESS SERIES. This is the story of Daniel Cross and Addison Fawn. These characters are seen in the Merciless Series, but this is their story, so we really see how messed up, broken, guilty and down right “Possessive” they really are.

You are always one decision away from a totally different life. Addison is living a self-imposed lonely existence. Running from her past, doesn't make the ghost disappear, no matter how far she ran. The guilt of her decisions followed her everywhere. Eventually you will turn full circle and end back to where it all started.

Daniel Cross has wanted someone forbidden ever since he saw her with his youngest brother. But he starred at her regardless. Her face had high cheek bones and piercing green eyes. Her hair fell in front of her face, and she had no idea how desirable she was. He has always wanted her, and he couldn't make it stop. He really doesn't care what happened yesterday as long as he gets her tomorrow.

This is a crazy story of two very broken people. Wrecked with guilt. You don't ever get over the death of someone who takes up space in your soul. It isn't even possible. There are moments when you remember that you're just a pale imitation of what you could be if they only were still here. And those moments hurt more than anything else in the world.

This book can be read as a standalone, but after meeting Daniel and Addison you are going to want to read more.
It seemed to be a story where both of them had creepy stalker tendencies towards each other. The charcters just seemed to be playing games with each other, kind of childish. Of course the woman character was weak and i just didn't think much of the male character.
