Our hero is Javier, a dom who likes his women, but wants to settle down, especially with his new neighbor, veteran Jules O’Neil. Jules works with Javi, but even after one night with him, she’s not so sure. He’s got his reputation, a brother who can’t deal with his own problems and is causing more of them, and she’s still having self esteem problems from losing her hand. It’s up to Javi to prove to Jules that he’s changed his ways. He also has to deal with his brother, who is in more trouble than he realizes. Of course, we get cameos from some of the totally amazing McKay/Taggart crew, especially Kai.
Lexi writes another hit book that has probably the best BDSM club EVER, but she also tackles issues that veterans deal with with amazing grace and sensitivity.

Lexi Blake’s characters are wonderful. I love that the “Topped” series has a fantastic Chef (Sean Taggart) who hires veterans, most with disabilities. In this story Jules lost her left hand while serving in the Navy. She works as a hostess at the restaurant. Javier works for Sean as his chef. They both have family issues, and Jules loved being able to cook but thinks since she no longer has her dominant hand most things are beyond her. Reading about these two, how they think, how they relate to their co-workers, their interest in BDSM, etc. had me smiling and crying. I am looking forward to the next one.
Ah, Javier! You manwhore. I knew you would meet your match, and boy did you. Got to love a woman who isn't afraid to defend her country and her man. These stories just get better and better. I love the way you get to see former characters, meet new ones, and watch ones you loved meet their soulmates. Javier really has his work cut out for him not only with his stubborn disabled brother, but with the feisty, proud, and wounded vet, Juliana. So proud, so determined, and so very much in her own way. I was so happy when she finally got her head out of her butt and stopped sabotaging herself and getting in her own way about following her dreams.
Javier has never had to chase a woman before. The sex was good but the one night stands aren't satisfying once he sees the new hostess. Once he starts talking to her no one else will do. What does he have to offer?
Jules learns to not let life or relationships hold you back from your dreams. As a recovering perfectionist myself I know how hard it is to give up or not even try when I don't think I will be the best at something. If only I had a Javier to push me to try!
This is definitely a feel good happy ending kind of story.
Lexi Blake does a beautiful job of honoring our veterans in every way. This series is so very inspirational. I am especially honored that she chose to honor a female vet who gave a little more than "some" in this book. Jules journey to living again was as courageous as the act that cost her so much. A true American hero. I do not want to forget Javi's brother Rafe. His journey, like so many of our vets, has taken a dark turn. But he has a loving family and an amazing support system. I hope he chooses to take advantage of it and that the author will include us in his continuing story. Wouldn't it be wonderful if all our veterans could have that love and support?
Javier and Jules were good together. This was a good story. Not an exciting or unpredictable book but a decent story. I must say though, I’m getting kind of bored with these books because they are all starting to be the same. They secretly like each other, have a quick tryst in the sheets, fight each other off for chapter after chapter and then tada, happily ever after. How many times can we read this same thing with just different names? Personally I think I’m about done with them.

Lexi Blake, I love your books but I think these characters have run their course.
The entire Masters and Mercenaries/Topped world have easily become favorites of mine. And this book just continues the long line of success this series and spinoff have become. Lexi Blake knows how to write books that are arousing, intriguing and delightful to read. I also very much like the fact that she has developed a sense of family by having recurring characters have small roles in New books. I feel sort of like I know these people.
Javier has always been a player, broom closet hook ups and one night stands with no staying over has been his M.O. That is until Jules comes to work at Topped she catches his heart and he will do anything to convince her that is reputation is not who he is for real. Jules broke away from her controlling mother and joined the service doing good in the world was her goal. She is discharged due to an incident that causes her to lose her arm. She never regrets the lives she was able to save sacrificing her arm for the greater good was the only option. She plays a good game making people think she is ok with her disability but in reality she is holding herself back from her true ambition to be a chef. Javier begins to show her a whole new world where her disability doesn’t matter and she can find new dreams with a man to love. Awesome story as always. Lexi and her characters will always have a place in my heart.
