Starstruck has all the elements of a romantic, adventurous young adult fiction read I would encourage my family and students to read. I am always on the hunt for clean fiction, and for the most part I found that Starstruck delivered the kind of read I am always searching for! While a fifteen-year-old girl named Marsha does have two best friends, she struggles to be accepted in school. She dreams of the day her prince will whisk her away from her boring world and her cruel nemesis. When a boy named Rigel shows up at her school, she is drawn to him, and surprisingly, he is drawn to her, too! How could it be the perfectly handsome, perfectly talented quarterback pays attention to Marsha?
What I love about this book is how it picks up pace as you read and does not leave you disappointed. Thank you, Brenda Hiatt, for a great read! I am definitely going to read the rest of the books in this series : )

This was a happy oops for me. accidentally hit buy instead of a swipe to turn page.... but so glad i did. This is a book about those great days of being in high school and aso being a nerdy nobody. yay....member those god awful years? a girl who has been teased most of her school days since elementary school, haa that one real friend only, then another girl moves in and they become the best of friends growing up. then highschool comes aaround and we all hope things change.... Not for M.... she still gets picked on and tased but her frriends are there always....
Things change when the new kid, new quarterback, and oh so hottie R shows up. M isnt the one to be all googoo eyed for him, shes had a crush so bad for some pther cute guy that never seemed to no she existed. But things change
M has always had this uncanny knack to destroy electronics. comps, cells, microwaves .... even digital watches... chalked it up to static electricity.... but when the new kid touches her...they both get a jolt that weirds them both out.
this is where the sci fi begins.... i didnt particularly care for the Mars thing...but hey its a scifi ya book. i did laugh at the references of the books they had to read... lord of the flies to be exact.... had to read that in 10th grade too. like M...i didnt care to much for it either ) typical mean girls... snobby cheerleders... dorks.... jocks... all around hs angst.
if ya liked the plot in Twilight...you'll like this too... i read it to my young nieces and they cant wait to hear what happens next..(me included)
All in all, a great read. clean fun.. no sexy crappy fill ins...
and a happy accident i hit the wrong tab )
This one actually took me by surprise as I was instantly drawn to the central character. But then again who could resist a nerdy but witty and smart damsel in distress? The novel was pretty adorable just as it was predictable. The "unpopular girl who gets the super hot new student" has been written hundreds of times but I enjoyed reading this one ... that was until I discovered the main plot. Then as quickly as I became attached to the novel I just as quickly wanted to stop reading it. It sounded believable, it sounded plausible but I felt like it was too impossible to be considered believable. A Martian race that lives on Mars underground was just too scientific for me and I found myself skipping over most of the dialogue when it came to the explanation of how this Martian race came to be. Mostly because it was hard to understand and then because it was just boring. Besides the whole "Martian from Mars" thing I wasn't feeling, I also didn't think the age of the characters suited them. Rigel in no way and time acted his age even if he was a Martian. Neither did Marsha. The intensity of the writing was all wrong for two characters that were only 15 years old. There was also some similarities to a certain vampire romance novel that I couldn't not notice because it was so damn obvious. The chapter titles were all over the place, a bunch of scientific wording that didn't make sense. However, even with all the things I did not like about this novel, its charming quality was so endearing I could not stop reading. I enjoyed it more than I disliked it, and most likely I'll continue the series.
At last! A beautiful story of intrigue, with sadness, pain, real feelings, a really cool Sci-Fi edge, and fresh clean romance.
This book made me smile, laugh a little, and shed a tear. Yes, real men can cry when they read a book, or see their Honey smile, wonder at their kids, but society is so screwed up!
I am happy Ms. Hiatt wrote this book and I found it through a friend. I already have Book 2 and now i am searching for a paperback of this book; signed would be a dream come true but unlikely.
I highly recommend this book to many different genre readers. And especially MALE readers!
I received the first book for free, and started reading it last Thursday. I had surgery in Friday, and was delayed, so I continued reading. I was truly disappointed when the surgeon was ready for me because I wanted to continue. The book had drama, humor, made you angry for the characters, and actually brought into the book! Don't know how the author did it, but it seemed like I was along for the ride. I finished the first book on Tuesday, bought the next several books in the series and is am down to the last one. I visited her website and found out there was another book after the novella, so YAY! I highly recommend this series and am looking forward to her other series, as she just got herself another fan!
