Ms Krentz pens another hit with this easy read. Her women are smart and capable, her men aren't smarmy and predictable, the plot keeps you guessing, and everything flows together toward a fun ending. This is definitely a re-read(my fourth re-read!).
I loved this romance. There are enough twists and turns in the plot to keep you fully engaged, and the characters are delightfully unpredictable as well. This is not a new release, and definitely is a bit dated in spots, but really in a fun way.
This book hit the right note it made me laugh; the ups and downs of being a part of a family was nice touch; the sexual chemistry had an hot edge to it; and the suspects on the "whodunit wheel" kept me guessing just until the author decided to clue us in. Of course, Vernon was easy. My regular choice of reading includes magic, monsters and mayhem but I was smiling after I finished this book and searching for other Jayne Ann Krentz novel.
There were a lot of good ideas. I enjoyed thinking about several parts of the book for quite awhile afterwards. I enjoyed the ideas about family and family ties through adoption, both formal and informal.

Story brief Desdemonia runs a catering business. She was adopted by a family of actors when she was a child. Sam was abandoned as a child and is now a successful computer genius with almost no people skills. How Desdemonia and her emotionally open family interact with Sam is wonderful. He makes some changes in his own life as a result.

This is one of my favorite of her stand alone stories. The beginning is a unique one and it takes off like a rocket. Most books just let you look at the female character and her life this one is equal for both maybe even more for him. I kind of get sick of the poor orphaned little girl that needs a big strong man to take care of her. This girl has a family that has proven that will take care of her and have faith in her ,she doesn't have to prove anything. Our hero is the one we need to worry about and it's interesting to watch him adapt. Throw in a mystery and needing a babysitter you have great story.
Was very entertaining, a bit of a twist, on the suitability of partners for marriage. Sometimes you just have to look a little deeper and beyond the cover.
